The primary goal of our team of nurturers is to provide the children of the learning community with learning opportunities that inspire a love for the world and learning. We strive to do this through an age-appropriate curriculum, with the guidance of the Waldorf pedagogy, and other educators within the Waldorf movement.
We aim to build a good partnership with the families to provide a rich experience for the children and the entire community.

Minaz
WSEYC Mentor, Playgroup facilitator, Co-lead teacher
Having lived almost 2 decades as a resident of Singapore, Minaz was led to Waldorf education in her search for a gentle, simple and holistic start for her son. While leading a parent-toddler playgroup, she spent three years educating herself to become a Waldorf Kindergarten teacher and the rest was history. “I strongly believe in looking upon each child as a highly evolved individual being, who needs to be offered plenty of room to grow - particularly through play - at his or her own pace and offering a playing field with plenty of natural stimuli, to help fire up their imagination.
As a teacher, I also aim to play the part of being a role model as I firmly believe that children learn best through keen observation and imitation.” Her interests include: nature and all things natural, cooking and baking wholesome food/snacks from scratch, art and music, recycling, the outdoors, spending time deepening her knowledge of the Steiner philosophy as the pedagogy and everything it stands for is something she truly resonates with. Through continued learning, she aims to give herself a well-rounded understanding and the chance to draw the best from it, which she brings to the little children in her care.
Shukla
Playgroup and Programmes Facilitator, Class Support Nurturer
Shukla's journey as a Social Artist working with children is truly remarkable. Her diverse background in coaching yoga to children, facilitating early years programs in Waldorf schools, and initiating nature-based play schooling reflects her deep commitment to holistic child development.
Her training in Waldorf Early Childhood education, along with her certifications in Early Childhood Teaching and Sports Coaching, provides her with a strong foundation to create nurturing and enriching environments for children to thrive in.
The establishment of Under the Tree, a nature-based play schooling program, demonstrates Shukla's innovative approach to early childhood education, blending the principles of Waldorf-Steiner philosophy with the wonders of the natural world. Additionally, her co-founding of an outdoor program for young children in Coney Island highlights her collaborative efforts and dedication to building communities of like-minded individuals who share a passion for supporting children's growth and development.
With nearly a decade of experience working with children, including those with special needs, Shukla's expertise as a yoga coach and teacher in Waldorf early childhood schools equips her with valuable insights into catering to the diverse needs of young learners.
Regina
Special Programmes Facilitator
Regina started her Waldorf teaching journey in the WSEAS Early Years in 2012-15 and then again in 2021-23. During and between her fruitful years, she endeavoured to deepen her understanding of children locally in various settings.
Being certified in both Waldorf Steiner early childhood international diploma and local diploma for early childhood accredited by ECDA, she has continuously worked at various settings, international and local preschools, including the several other Waldorf Early Childhood organizations in Singapore.
As an avid Yogini for the past 20 years, she has also been regularly teaching yoga and breathwork to children and adults while staying connected and involved with the association in the afternoon and additional Waldorf programmes.
She passionately stays on our nurturer team bringing with her the love and experience from her years of inner work and transformational work and leadership.
Derrick Lim
WSEYC & WSEAS Mentor, Co-lead teacher, class support Nurturer
A generalist with a deep interest in the world, Derrick Lim, encountered Anthroposophy in Singapore in 1996 and went to New Zealand to start his Waldorf teacher training. In 2000, he joined the Camphill Hermanus in South Africa for a two years practice with a Waldorf teacher. However, destiny intervened and led him to a path of curative educational and social therapeutic work of Camphill communities for the following thirteen years.
Derrick has been a long-standing member of the Waldorf Association in Singapore and has himself been a Waldorf alumnus parent. Upon his return in 2014 his involvement became deeper as a member and eventually started serving in the Board committee for many years.
Along with the BA(Arts & Social Science) and Diploma (Curative Education and Social Therapy) under his belt, Derrick brings with him his experiences in civil society work, biodynamic gardening and love of all beings. Derrick strives for deeper understanding of life through Anthropo-Sophia and hopes to live out of it.
Sandhya
Co-Lead teacher, Playgroup facilitator
Sandhya stepped into the wonderful world of Waldorf while searching for a good playgroup for her daughter over a decade ago. Her family enjoyed it so much that the playgroup session turned into, not only her daughter’s 4-year stay with the Waldorf Early Years Centre but also, a life-enriching journey of becoming a playgroup facilitator.
“Facilitating playgroups brings me immense joy as I am transported back into the time when my daughter was younger and we both made meaningful authentic friendships because of the playgroups. And more often than not, and I say this with great pride, I see similar relationships being built at my playgroups. The most that one will get out of the sessions is a deeper relationship with yourself, your child and other parents who are doing the most important work of raising more mindful kids.”
Her simple wish of creating a similar experience she had for other parents motivated her gain her certification in Early Childhood Rudolf Steiner Education Course I, as well as attend a diverse range of trainings from WSEYC playgroup facilitator training to Waldorf Primary1&2 Teacher Training.
Veronica
Primary school age programmes facilitator
Veronica first came across Rudolf Steiner’s works at study group after attaining her banking and wealth management degree. From then, she knew that the Waldorf Education was what she wanted for her future children.
Strongly inspired by its harmonious approach towards a gentle and rhythmic pedagogy, abundant with fairytales and imaginative play, emphasising on nature play, she pursued an ECCE diploma and embarked on her pre-school teaching career.
She finds meaning to her chosen path even more now, being a first time mum and feels privileged to be able to nurture her daughter in a holistic and enlightening manner, without a rush into academics.
She enjoys learning about astrology in the anthroposophical teaching as well as doing geometric artwork. Her range, flexibility and adaptability makes her a dependable nurturer in the Early Years Centre. She is currently in training to curate and facilitate a Mandarin Playgroup Programme.
Maureen - Centre Administrator
Having moved back to Singapore from the Philippines where she was a community weaver at a Waldorf school in her hometown in the mountains, Maureen joined the WSEAS team in 2015 as an assistant teacher in the Tembusu Programme.
In 2018, she was invited to take a volunteer position as an enrollment administrator. As the years progressed, her involvement in the association grew deeper until she took up the responsibility of managing the WSEYC operations with the support of the WSEAS board and College of Teachers while carrying on a career as an Inclusion Support Advocate, supporting children with special needs in several international schools in Singapore.
Completing her Foundations course in Waldorf Early Childhood Education, along with continuing education and trainings in HANDLE, Curative Education and Waldorf Extra Lesson, she is ready to assist in centre operational needs, lovingly support families, and willingly contribute towards the child-centred philosophy of the WSEYC. This is Maureen’s way of supporting Waldorf as a holistic education approach, caring for the head, heart, and hands of every member of the community.
Rachel - Finance Manager
A dedicated mother of 3, Rachel stepped into the Waldorf Singapore community in 2017 as the Finance Manager. As an accomplished chartered accountant having more than 20 years of experience in accounting and taxation, she has been a reliable help to the members and staff of WSEAS.
She holds this part-time position with full-time dedication because she finds the association is like a big warm family and she appreciates its philosophy based on peace and tolerance. The integrated and holistic manner of the pedagogy is what impressed her the most, and would like to continuously be a part of it.
