Receive the children with reverence, educate them with love and let them go forth in freedom.

WHO WE ARE
Waldorf Early Years encourages curiosity and imagination as the foundation of holistic learning, with a strong sense of self.
At Waldorf Early Years we take a gentler approach towards education even as the world returns to its frenzied pre-pandemic pace. We honour the stages of human development, encouraging children up to 7 years grow at their own pace, while setting boundaries within which they learn to fail safely and grow into confident global citizens. We are a small and thriving community run as a partnership between teachers and parents. Our inclusive community provides a rich environment and role models for our children to imitate.

Waldorf education is based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy.
Center History
In August 2001, five mothers who shared a common passion for Waldorf Education, set up a weekly playgroup at their home. They were soon joined by others: a gathering of locals, long-term residents and expats adding a truly global flavour, reflecting the rich multicultural heritage of Singapore. With the children growing, came the challenge of starting a kindergarten. Author and trainer Margarete Lange joined as teacher and parents formed a co-operative. The first class has held in January 2003 with 9 children aged 3-4 years. The Waldorf Steiner Education Association (Singapore) was registered as a non-profit society, formed by 13 parents and teachers committed to supporting and developing Waldorf education in Singapore.
Association
The Waldorf Steiner Education Association (Singapore) (WSEAS) was founded in 2003 with a goal to promote Waldorf education and pedagogy in Singapore. We answer some frequently asked questions about Waldorf education and share additional resources for you to learn more.
What is Waldorf Education?
Waldorf education, established by scholar Rudolf Steiner and Emil Molt in 1919, aspires to recognise and refine every child’s unique potential in a way that serves humanity. It honours three distinct human developmental stages: early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence. Early childhood, where we specialise, is the time from birth to 7 years of age and the change of teeth. Our teaching methods are designed to nurture children’s budding talents at this stage of physical and mental growth.
The need for imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility – these are the three forces which are the very nerve of education.

play-based educational programs for children aged 18 months to 6 years. Parents and teachers run the centre as a co-op and can attend self-development workshops and seminars, art and crafts sessions as well as study the works of Rudolf Steiner. We work harmoniously with our members worldwide and the families in the locality. We strive to uphold Singapore’s true kampung spirit, where everyone’s involvement and support are honoured and returned.
